I'm no expert on the WI mess and from what you wrote I probably have not studied it as much as you. You wrote one thing that was news to me - they "still have collective bargaining rights". Just as with too many issues in the past the details never get the coverage instead the media focuses on this person shouting or that one jumping up and down.

My take - Governor Walker was wrong to refuse to negotiate with the other side on this. I heard teachers spokespeople say they were willing to accept changes in benefits to help the budget. He insisted because of his majority to push it to the maximum blow against unions. I'll assume he hates unions. I believe things run better down the middle and not on either edge of the road.

Unions are not perfect and neither are corporations but we need both for balance.
thanks for asking.Bill Lislemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187273560129198423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042586512666581047.post-2506670403783635662011-03-13T09:54:00.545-05:002011-03-13T09:54:00.545-05:00I think it's the nose under the tent sentiment...I think it's the nose under the tent sentiment. If you let them take a little where will it stop? Plus the national union leaders are looking out for themselves. What seems obvious to me is that the rank and file were stirred up not to defend themselves but to defend union leadership nationwide. Students and others not directly effected took the opportunity to express their frustration in getting soundly beat last Nov. State Senate Dems have no answers other than to block whenever they can.(Just one man's take.)Billnoreply@blogger.com
