Life's Side Trips...and Yoga

Call me crazy!!  Yeah...don't worry...I'm used to it!!  I've survived raising two teenagers who thought I was I was bonkers at times.  So you won't offend me by calling me crazy...but I digress!!

I was talking to my daughter the other day, telling her the obvious.  "Y'know, Honey, I really need to get back in shape."  (Okay, so I didn't hear her actually say it, but c' know damn well she said to herself, "Duh, Mom!!").  The next day, she called to tell me that she needs me around for a good long time, my grandkids need me around for a long time...y'know..all that stuff that gives you a lump in your throat.  So, since I woke up at 4 this morning (don't ask!), I decided to throw in the DVD of Rodney Yee's Yoga for Beginners.  Now I wasn't able to do a whole lot of the moves, given that I managed to bruise my legs pretty badly over the weekend as I was trying to be very helpful, albeit clumsy, in getting a very large desk removed from my home...but again, I digress!

The point I want to make here is, the little bit of yoga I did this morning brought me such energy.  It's amazing!  This is not a new process for me, either.  I did this same yoga years ago, with the same energizing results.  It's just that sometimes, when you take on all the little side trips that life throws your way, you sometimes get lost in what you know works for you.

So today is a new start to my healthful, energized life.  I will get to bed earlier so that I can get up earlier to spend my mornings with Rodney!

And I just want to ask....what have you lost sight of because of life's little side trips???  And what are you going to do to get it back?

"What Is My Angel's Name?"

Well, I got one scrapbook page done this weekend.  And I put it in a frame and gave it to my daughter, the mother of two of the most beautiful grandkids a Gram could ask for.  She really is an incredible mom.

I wish I knew the author of this poem, but all my research comes up with "Anonymous".  It's titled "A Newborn's Conversation with God."

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy." God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?" God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?" God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

Who will protect me?" God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore." God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, "You will simply call her, "Mom."

And I made a matching card, inspired by Leslie at Running with Scissors.  That's about as far as I go with my creativity this weekend.
Hope everyone had as wonderful a Mother's Day as I did.

A Short Letter to a Local Ford Truck Owner

Dear Crazy Ford Truck Driver who decided to speed up and tailgate me after I pulled away from each stop sign on the way home from work:  Just wanted to let you know that I intentionally drove as slow as I could (it's called the speed limit) just so that I could watch you in my rearview mirror getting pissed at me everytime I stopped.  You see, drivers like you are the adult form of bullies.  I don't like bullies.

Have a nice day!!

Celebrating Our Pet

Saturday, I celebrated National Scrapbooking Day by getting together with some of my most inspirirng "sisters" in the Scrap Cellar.  Always a good time, usually involving chocolate!
I've been working on a scrapbook about our buddy, Barney.  Barney is about 15 years old, starting to move a little slower, makes a bit more noise when climbing the stairs, but I gotta tell ya, not a day goes by that this little fella doesn't show us he loves us.

When I recently found a class at Big Picture Scrapbooking that celebrates your pets, I decided to sign up for it.  SO, so glad I did.  The class encourages you and gives you prompts to develop pages on what your dog has taught you.  Here are some pages:

And a couple more:

We are so incredibly lucky to have Barney in our lives.

Do you have a pet that brightens your view of the world?? I'd love to hear your story!
