Confession Time!!

I have a confession to make. No, it has nothing to do with the fact that I haven't posted since Father's Day. Things, life, funkiness just got in the way of that.
No, this confession is one I'm pretty embarrassed about. But I'm thinking if I come clean on this one, I'll find that somewhere out in the blogsphere there are some fellow sympaticos. So here goes: I've never read any of the Harry Potter books in their entirety. In fact, I started reading the very first one way back (pre-movie premiere) but could never get "into it". It's just that there were so many nouns in it that weren't really words.

So I got lost trying to make sense of it all. And then I got frustrated. And then I stopped reading. Don't get me wrong. I really enjoy watching the Harry Potter movies (but don't ask me to name them in sequential order). My son even resembles the older Harry. My son's dog is named Potter.
So why do I bring this up now? Well, I just saw this trailer for the final movie. Holy Wizardry, Batman er, Harry!!  It's a two-parter.  First part comes out in November.  And this is one of the most exciting movie trailers I've ever watched.  So even though both my adult kids have told me that I really need to give them a try, it's only now that I'm feeling the strong desire to read the books.
So, what do you think? Can I get thru the entire series before the premiere of the final movie??

Happy Father's Day!

Things I learned from Dad...
Dad and I danced to "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling."

You taught me that being Irish is a good thing
and something to be proud of.
You showed me that one cup of coffee before you start
your day helps get you started a lot easier!
You taught me that sometimes NOT saying something
is the best way to handle a situation.
You showed me how to get along with difficult people.
You taught me the value of a good joke.
You showed me how easy it was to start
your day with a good attitude.
You taught me that saving money is
just as important as earning money.
You showed me the pride in earning a living
for your family, no matter what the pay is.
You taught me that people gravitate toward people who smile!!

Nobody could have asked for a better Dad.
I only wish my kids and grandkids
had a chance to meet you in person.

To all you wonderfully involved fathers out there...
Have a fun-filled day!!
Happy Father's Day!

Old Souls Among Us!

As I was visiting my fave blogs, I visited Ali E's place and was inspired to take one of the pics of my grandson and add some journaling directly onto the picture.  This joy in my life recently turned 12 years old.  I've always sensed he's had a lot going on in that noodle of his.  This is a perfect photo to capture that.  Of all the roles I've had in my life, I have to say that being a Grandma is just about as good as it gets!

How about you?  What's the best role you've played so far?
